shopping spree

today I went on a shopping spree.. my 1 year reward


I tried on so many different items today ... tops, dresses, skirts.. I went to macys, the limited and NY company. I spent 3.5 hours shopping.  I love all the colorful tunics out.. but they just don't flatter me .. too boxy. I found a must have shirt dress at NYC but I needed a size up that they were out of.  I really think I need to check online because what I was looking for was a casual knee length skirt and top combo... I found either maxi skirts or pencil skirts.... nothing in between. I am really feeling a pull towards my girly side.. trying on more dresses.. but did not find a keeper today. It is my goal to find a cute dress.

I ended up with four tops and earrings.... I still need a cute pair of wedge or mid  heeled sandals and I want some cute skirts.

I got this Limited mesh top.. I plan to wear it over a cami and with my jeans or white pants


I got this fun green striped top.. for the weekend.. I am a sucker for a striped top


I hardly ever buy two pairs of the same thing... but I love these so much .I got a pair in gold and silver.. they are so lightweight and petite... they just shimmer so pretty. I am usually more of a silver girl, but I am liking the gold too. I forget I have these on. I loathe heavy earrings that weigh my lobes down.

I also got a coral lightweight sweater and a orange/black geometric tank top.



gotta go through my summer clothes basket and see what fits and really make a plan.. because if I just walk into a mall I am bound to buy all cute tops and accessories and nothing I really need

week 52- tips & tricks

Next week marks my One year anniversary of this new lifestyle-here are my top 10 fav tips & advice


1) change takes time.. I expected that by 1 year in working out 5 days a week that I would be firmer and have a bikini ready body...I am not at that place YET.. I am come so far... I am not done in the journey... I will keep pushing and changing things up to get new results... I can only be the best me... one day at a time

2) be accountable- journal, blog, keep a food diary, chronicle your journey with pics so you can see the changes. I can't tell you how much my old pics motivate and inspire me. People who journal are more successful and likely to stick to their goals.

3) start small and go from there... small changes add up in the long run.. just  cutting out Pop or Fast food can make a huge difference.

4) reward your effort... I reward myself once a month for working out.I also take weekends off from calorie counting and exercise.

5) every healthy choices matter and add up... one bad meal won't ruin you just like one good meal won't transform you.... just choose mostly good

6)  just get started.. just the other day I had pushed off my workout off until it was 5 pm and I was so tired... I forced my self on the elliptical and before I knew it I had done my 30 minutes. Just try.. something is better than nothing. If you can only do 15... rock that 15 min workout.

7) don't look outwards for your motivation or support... find like minded people to support you.. I kept waiting for someone at work ( I work with all women) to notice my changes... to notice my weight loss.. to complement me.... it has never happened...NEVER! some people will not support you out of jealousy. Once someone at work said something snarky about me being able to wear what ever I wanted.. I simply replied.. I work hard on my body 5 days a week.

8) start now.. don't wait.. you don't need a gym or fancy foods


9) the truth.. eating healthy IS more expensive... but its worth it.

10) Your worth it !!!! I used to tell myself that this is just how my body was.. it was my thyroid ( I do have an honest to goodness medically treated thyroid condition).  Even now I catch myself saying " oh well.. maybe I am past my tummy baring prime".... that is my goal.. to be able to confidently bare my tummy. I am worth the effort and I won't give up.

Asian chicken salad



lots of hidden cals in this one from chick fil a.. ordered it at the drive through and it has 330 calories written next to it, but when you add the nuts, wontons dressing it was close to 550 calories... and the chicken was fried.... ya live ya learn... otherwise it was very tasty.. but I would order it with char-grilled chicken had I known.

Morning workout

Today I did my cardio in the early Am and I loved it...It has been a long while since I worked out in the morning. I forgot how great it feels to be jazzed up in the morning and go about my day knowing I put myself first. I had a really great sweat. I am disciplined enough to do my workout after work if needed.. but there are so many unforeseen work factors and home factors that can zap my energy and make my pm workouts more ho-hum. I came home today and did some weights & ab work for about 20 minutes.Looking forward to doing my workouts in the morning a few days a week.. that means waking up earlier.. but it is so worth it.
